Waze Sparks International Incident In Jerusalem
In what might be the first, documented international incident caused by erroneous satellite navigation, the Israeli military said that at least 10 Israeli soldiers were wounded, one Palestinian was dead, and 10 other Palestinians injured, as a result of problems using Waze by two soldiers. Israeli reports say that two soldiers, following Waze, ended up in a Palestinian refugee camp by mistake--sparking a gun battle and riot which resulted in the death and injuries. Waze is owned by Google, which acquired the company in 2013.
