Hewlett-Packard Enterprise Sells Off Software Arm To Micro Focus In $8.8 Billion
Hewlett-Packard Enterprise said this morning that it is selling off its software business, to Micro Focus, in a deal worth $8.8 billion. HPE said it would sell its Application Delivery Management, Big Data, Enterprise Security, Information Management & Governance and IT Operations Management to Micro Focus, calling those businesses "non-core" to its focus on "software defined hybrid IT solutions". HPE said that its shareholders will retain a 50.1% ownership of the new combined company, and that it will receive a a $2.5 billion cash payment in the deal.
