Trimble In Official Name Change

Sunnyvale-based Trimble--which is one of the most acquisitive companies in the technology industry--said this morning that it has officially changed its name from Trimble Navigation Limited to Trimble Inc. The company also reincorporated from the State of California to the State of Delaware. Trimble said the change reflects the evolution of the ocmpany from a GPS product company to a provider of "integrated information technology solutions". Trimble's business now spans a significantly larger span of the market, after gobbling up dozens of companies across the area of location services, mapping software, industrial control, transportation logistics, construction, estimating, and a host of other areas. The company has been referring to itself as "Trimble" for quite a few years.
