Extreme Networks Buys Brocade's Data Center Segment For $55M

San Jose-based Extreme Networks announced this morning that it has agreed to acquire the data center switching, routing, and analytics business from Brocade Communications Systems, from new owner Broadcom. The deal is worth $55M in cash, including $35M at close and $20M in deferred payments, plus earnout. Extreme Networks said the acquisition will help bolster its enterprise market position. The move comes as a result of Broadcom's acquisition of Brocade. Broadcom agreed to pay $5.9 billion for Brocade back in November of 2016.
