Synopsys Buys Black Duck Software For $548M

Mountain View-based Synopsys has agreed to acquire Massachusetts-based Black Duck Software, a developer of software to automate the management of open source software, the company said on Thursday. Synopsys said it would pay $565M for Black Duck, with an enterprise value of $548 million net of cash acquired. Black Duck's software is specifically aimed at analyzing open source software for security and licensing issues.
