Ample Finds $31M For Fast EV Charging
San Francisco-based Ample, a startup developing fast charging systems for the electric vehicle (EV) market, announced this morning that it has raised $31M in a Series A funding round. The funding round was led by Shell Ventures, and also included Moore Strategic Ventures, Repsol Energy Ventures, Hemi Ventures, and TRIREC. Ample says it has created a platform which delivers a full charge to any electric vehicle in minutes, using robotics and "smart-battery" technology. As part of the funding, the company said that both Steve McGrath of Shell Ventures and James McIntyre of Moore Strategic Ventures join its board of directors. The company said it will use the new funds to deploy its technology in multiple locations over the coming months. Ample was co-founded by Khaled Hassounah and John de Souza. More information »
