Autodesk Buys Socialcam

San Francisco-based 3D CAD software firm Autodesk announced today that it has acquired Socialcam, the mobile video service. The deal was worth $60M. Socialcam develops iOS and ANdroid apps, which allow users to capture, edit, and share videos. Autodesk said it plans to use Socialcam's platform to help make its technology for professional film and video creators more accessible to a broader audience. Socialcam was headed by Michael Seibel, and based in San Francisco.
