Brocade Acquires Silverback Systems

San Jose-based Brocade Communications Systems has acquired Silverback Systems, a Campbell-based network processor firm focused on accelerating iSCSI storage traffic. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Brocade said that the cash purchase price is not material to the firm. Silverback has raised over $50.8 million in four rounds of financing since July of 2000, and is backed by Intel Capital, Newbury Ventures, Gemini Israel Funds, JPMorgan, NetApp, Pitango Venture Capital, and US Trust Private Equity.
