SGI Buys SGI Japan

Fremont-based SGI said Wednesday afternoon that it has acquired SGI Japan from its Japanese partners, which include NEC Corporation, Sony Corporation, and Canon Marketing Japan. SGI said it pay $17.9M in cash for SGI Japan, which also includes $27.0M of net working capital. The firm prevoiusly owned 10.4 percent of SGI Japan, Ltd. SGI Japan provides sales and service for SGI's products in Japan, and has 272 employees.
