Tesla Sells Out First 100 Cars
San Carlos-based Tesla Motors, a startup backed by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, JP Morgan Partners, and VantagePoint Venture Partners, has sold out of its first 100 cars, the company is reporting. The company is developing a high-performance, electric car with zero emissions. The company, which is chaired by eBay co-founder Elon Musk, said that the first customers each made a $100,000 deposit to reserve their special edition Tesla roadster--which won't be delivered until mid-2007. Those customers include George Clooney, Dennis Haysbert, VantagePoint's Jim Marver, and eBay's Jeff Skoll.
