Friendster Gets Social Networking Patent
San Francisco-based Friendster announced this morning that it has received a U.S. patent on its social networking services. The firm said that this is the third patent it has received. The patent is no. 7,188,153 B2, and is entitled "System and Method for Managing Connections in an Online Social Network", and was granted March 6th. The patent names Christopher Lunt, Jonathan Abrams, and Samuel Sanchez as inventors, and was filed in August of 2006. Friendster is backed by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Benchmark Capital, and DAG Ventures.
