Friendster Racks Up Patent
Mountain View-based Friendster is trumpeting a patent the firm gained earlier this year, saying yesterday that it received U.S. Patent number 7,478,078, "Method for Sharing Relationship Information Stored in a Social Network Database with Third Party Databases". The patent covers sharing social networking information between two databases, and brings the company's total patents held to five. It's unclear why the firm decided to announce the patent now, when the patent was granted back in January. Chrstiopher Lunt and Nicholas Galbreath are named as inventors on the patent, which was filed on June 14, 2004. The firm was represented by Patterson & Sheridan LLP in the patent filing.
