NASA, Google Update Online Lunar Content
NASA announced Tuesday that new multimedia content, including high-resolution lunar imagery and maps, is now available on Google's Moon Web site. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration said the alliance was accomplished under the December 2006 Space Act Agreement between Google and NASA's Ames Research Center. NASA said the update includes new content from the Apollo moon landing missions, such as descriptions of the astronauts' activities during those missions, dozens of embedded panoramic images, and links to audio clips and videos. Also available are detailed charts of different regions of the moon. NASA added that the new content is overlay on higher-resolution lunar maps.
