Wigix Debuts Online Marketplace With Backing From DFJ
Oakland-based Wigix, a venture backed startup funded by Draper Fisher Jurvetson and angel investors, said Tuesday that it has opened up a public beta of a site for online auctions. The firm said that it has created an online stock market for non-financial goods, combining NASDAQ-style trading with a community marketplace. The new company was founded by James Chong, who was formerly at Charles Schwab. Wigix said that Chong architected the online trading systems at Charles Schwab.
