Bay Area Deals Total $2.95B For Q2

PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association released its quarterly venture capital survey Saturday, reporting that there was $2.95B in 306 deals invested in Silicon Valley for the second quarter of the year. The MoneyTree Report from PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) based on data provided by Thomson Reuters found that nationally, there was $7.4B invested in 990 deals nationally, roughly flat from Q1, when there was $7.5B in 977 deals. The most active industry for investments was software, with $1.25B in 219 deals, with Industrial/Energy deals totaling $1.2B for the second most active industry. The clean tech sector hit an all-time quarterly high in investment dollars with $883.6 million invested in the sector. Internet deals were up 14 percent from Q1, totaling $1.5B in 238 deals in Q2.
