Friendster Gets $20M, New CEO
San Francisco-based Friendster said today that it has raised $20M in new funding, and also appointed a new CEO. The new funding was led by IDG Ventures, along with existing investors Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Benchmark Capital, DAG Ventures and Founders Fund. According to Friendster, Butch Reddy of IDG will join the firm's board along with the funding. The firm said that Richard Kimber joins the company as its new CEO and as a member of its board of directors; Kimber was most recently regional managing director of South Asia at Google.
