SourceForge Expands Open Source Services

Mountain View-based SourceForge, a provider of open source development project management tools, said this morning that it has launched a new service to host web applications. According to SourceForge, its new Hosted Apps service allows users to get instant access to open source applications. The new service is launching with PhpBB, MediaWiki, and LimeSurvey. PhpBB is used for online forum and discussions, MediaWiki powers sites like Wikipedia, and LimeSurvey is an online survey tool. All three of the software products can be connected to new and existing SourceForge.net products, and the firm said it will also add other applications over the next few months. SourceForge provides source code check-in, bug tracking, and other applications geared towards open source code development efforts.
