Yahoo, Google Abandon Advertising Effort
Google and Yahoo announced this morning that the firms have abandoned their bid to allow Google to provide ads on its websites. According to Google, after four months of review and discussions with government regulators and advertisers, the move comes because of risks of a protracted legal battle and damage to relationship with its partners. In June, Google and Yahoo! agreed to use Google for advertising on sites in the U.S. in Canada, but had held off implementation for government review.
