SiBEAM Ships Chips
Sunnyvale-based SiBEAM, which develops high speed wireless communications chips, said today that the firm's chipsets have entered volume production. The firm said that its millimeter wave products, which operate in the 60Ghz band, have been in sampling since Q1 of 2008. The firm's chips are used for sending 1080p HDTV signals via wireless, and are targeted for use in flat panel televisions, set-top boxes, Blu-ray players, PCs, and other applications. SiBeam is backed by Panasonic, Samsung, Foundation Capital, NEA, and US Venture Partners.
