McAfee: Facebook, Twitter Top Security Targets In 2010

Santa Clara-based security software provider McAfee said Tuesday that it believes that Facebook and Twitter will be the top targets for security threats in 2010. The firm said that it believes cybercriminals are targeting Facebook and Twitter as the "platforms of choice" next year to create emerging threats. The security software firm said that cybercriminals are using the platform because they help overcome hesitance to click links that users would otherwise treat more cautiously, and because Twitter's use of URL shorteners makes it easier for cybercriminals to direct users to malicious web sites.
