Blurb Launches Book Sharing App

San Francisco-based Blurb, a developer of book publishing software and services, said Thursday that it has launched a new, online book sharing application which allows its users to share their books online, through Facebook, blogs, web sites, and the Apple iPad. Blurb--which custom prints books which are created by its users--said the application is designed to drive interest in their printed book. The new application is free, and Blurb said authors can control how much of their books can be accessed via the new Bookshow application. According to privately held Blurb, the firm shipped over 1.2 million books and generated over $45M in revenues in 2009; the firm is venture backed by Anthem Ventures and Canaan Partners.
