Yahoo: comScore Off By A Billion Pageviews

Sunnyvale-based Yahoo reports today that Internet metrics firm comScore underreported its page views in June 2010 by more than one billion pages, and duration by more than 850 million minutes. According to Yahoo, the corrected numbers, it pageviews were only down 4.7 percent, not the 7.4 percent previously reported, and duration of visits were down 4.3 percent, not 6.4 percent. The biggest error appeared to be in traffic information reported for the US, which Yahoo reported were under-reported by 3 percent in pageviews, and 2.2 percent in terms of duration. Yahoo said it announced the error--despite the revision by comScore--because comScore does not generally issue restatements to its published reports.
