Yahoo Unveils Yet Another Security Breach, One Billion User Accounts Compromised

Yahoo reported yet another major security breach--separate from an earlier one disclosed in September--may have compromised data from more than one billion user accounts, according to the company. Yahoo said the information includes email addresses, telephone numbers, dates of birth, hashed passwords and, in some cases, encrypted or unencrypted security questions and answers, were stolen by the unknown hackers. Yahoo said it has "taken steps to secure user accounts" and is working closely with law enforcement on the new breach. Yahoo said that, separately, it is looking into the use of "forged cookies" which could allow intruders to access users' accounts without a password.
