Rambus Buys Unity Semiconductor

Sunnyvale-based Rambus said today that it has acquired non-volatile, solid state memory technology developer Unity Semiconductor, in a deal worth $35M in cash. Rambus said it has added Unity's team members as part of the acquisition. Unity develops solid state memory technology it says can replace the current use of NAND memory in the solid state storage market. Unity Semiconductor was also base din Sunnyvale, and was venture backed by August Capital, Lightspeed Ventures, and Morgenthaler Ventures.
