Zmanda Acquired By Carbonite
Sunnyvale-based Zmanda, which develops open source and cloud-based backup tools, has been acquired by Carbonite, a provider of cloud-based backup services for consumers and SMBs. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Carbonite said the buy will help it further capture the SMB cloud backup market. Zmanda was founded in 2005, and counts BlueRun Ventures, Canaan Partners, and Helion Venture Partners among its investors; the firm was headed by Chander Kant.
