SugarSync Acquired By j2 Global

San Mateo-based SugarSync, which offers up an online file backup and sharing service, has been acquired by j2 Global in an asset deal. Financial details of the acquisition were not announced. SugarSync was backed by Coral Group, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Hatteras Venture Partners, Hercules Finance LLC, Selby Ventures, and Sigma Partners, and has raised around $45M in funding. j2 Global is an operator of a wide range of cloud services, ranging from cloud backup, email marketing, to eFax and communications services; the company also owns Ziff Davis.
