AIStorm Gets $13.2M For AI Chips

San Jose-based semiconductor maker AIStorm, which is developing chips which integrate artificial intelligence sensors and processors in silicon, has raised $13.2M in a funding round, the company said this morning. The Series A funding came from Egis Technology, TowerJazz, Meyer Corporation, and Linear Dimensions Semiconductor. According to AIStorm, it is looking to lower power requirements and systems costs for those developing machine learning and AI systems. The company claims its semiconductors provide a cost savings of five to ten times compared to graphical processing units (GPUs), which are what typically have been used for "edge processing". AIStorm is led by CEO David Schie.
