Cisco Buys Reactivity

San Jose-based Cisco Systems said today that it is in a definitive agreement to acquire Redwood City-based Reactivity. Cisco will pay $135M in cash and assumed options. Reactivity develops XML gateways, used for managing XML and Simple Object Access (SOAP) web services. Reactivity has 56 employees, who will join Cisco's Datacenter Switching and Security Technology Group (DSSTG). Reactivity is backed by Accel Partners, Angel Investors LP, Austin Ventures, Diamondhead Ventures, JK&B Capital, and Maveron.
