AMD Expands R&D In Bangalore
Sunnyvale-based AMD said late Wednesday night that the firm has opened up a new silicon design and platform research and development facility in Bangalore. According to AMD, the new engineering facility will play a lead role in developing AMD's first 45nm quad-core microprocessor, code named "Shanghai." The teams were previously doing work on the firm's Quad-Core AMD Opteron chip. AMD said that the new silicon design center will be 52,000 square feet, and that it will also continue to maintain an existing facility in Bangalore for its administration, sales, and marketing staff.
