Sigma Designs Acquires Zensys

Sigma Designs Inc., a manufacturer of semiconductors for the consumer electronics industry, announced Thursday that it has agreed to acquire a wireless start-up, Zensys Holdings Corp. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Headquartered in Fremont, Calif., Zensys develops single-chip radio frequency processors. According to Sigma Designs, Zensys’ Z-Wave brand has already been designed into more than 250 smart home products. Zensys was founded in 1999 to develop wireless solutions for the home automation and remote control markets. The company employs 33 people, 23 of which are engineers. Sigma Designs is based in Milpitas, Calif.
