23andMe Launches Pregnancy Community

Mountain View-based 23andMe, the personal genetic testing startup co-founded by Anne Wojcicki and funded by Genentech, Google, MDV Mohr Davidow Ventures, and New Enterprise Associates, said Tuesday that it has launched free, online community focused on pregnancy. According to the firm, the new community has to goal of "connecting women together" in addition to helping research preventative care in pregnancy. The firm said the community is part of an effort to discover the genetic roots of pregnancy complications. In addition to the free community, the firm said it will offer its personal genome service to help highlight different health conditions and traits, some of which are specifically relevant to pregnant women.
