Tessera Buys Ziptronix For $39M
San Jose-based Tessera Technologies, which develops semiconductor products and technology, said late Thursday that it has agreed to acquire Ziptronix, for $39M in cash. Ziptronix, which had been based in Raleigh, North Carolina, is a venture-backed spinout of RTI International. Tessera said the buy will expand its advanced packaging capabilities to its lineup. Ziptronix develops 3D stacking technology for memory, FPGAs, RF, MEMs, and other semiconductors.
