Saildrone Finds $14M For Autonomous, Data Collecting Ocean Vehicles
Aladema-based Saildrone, a developer of autonomous, unmanned ocean vehicles, which are used to collect ocean data, has raised $14M in a Series A funding. The funding was led by Social Capital, and also included Capircorn Investment Group and Lux Capital. The company previously raised funding from the The Schmidt Family Foundation, a private foundation created by Eric and Wendy Schmidt. Saildrone is led by Richard Jenkins.
